Who can apply?

You can apply for an HSBC Global Money Account if you have:

a valid email address that's on our records
an active HSBC UK Current Account (excluding Basic Bank Account, Amanah, Appointee and MyAccount)
the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app

Apply for your account in minutes through the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app.

First check you have the latest version of the app, then just log on and select 'International Services' from the menu underneath your accounts. From there, select 'Global Money' and follow the instructions to open your account.

Frequently asked questions

If you ordered your card when you opened your account, please allow up to 5 working days for delivery. If you'd like to use your card before it arrives, you can add it to your digital wallet via our Mobile Banking app and start using it straight away.

If you haven't ordered your card yet, you'll need to order it first. Here's how to do it:

Log on to the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app.
Select your Global Money Account.
Select any of your currency balances.
Select 'View more', then 'Order card' and follow the on-screen instructions.

Please note: you'll need to have the latest version of the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app installed before you can order your card.

You can send payments to over 200 countries in more than 60 currencies. You can view an up-to-date list of the countries and currencies available in our app.

Here's how to do it:

Log on to the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app.
Select 'Pay & Transfer'.
Under Global Money, select 'Send money internationally'.

You can then view the full list of countries available, followed by the available currencies for that country

Please remember to have the latest version of the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app installed.

You can hold balances in the following currencies:

GBP - pound sterling

EUR - euro

USD - US dollar

AUD - Australian dollar

ZAR - South African rand

PLN - Polish zloty

CAD - Canadian dollar

NZD - New Zealand dollar

CHF - Swiss franc

SEK - Swedish krona

HKD - Hong Kong dollar

AED - UAE dirham

CZK - Czech koruna

NOK - Norwegian krone

DKK - Danish krone

SGD - Singapore dollar

JPY - Japanese yen

CNH - Chinese yuan renminbi

You can easily add money into your Global Money Account using our app. Here's how to do it:

Log on to the HSBC UK Mobile Banking app.
Select your Global Money Account.
Select 'Pay & Transfer'.
Under Global Money, select 'Add, convert or withdraw' and follow the on-screen instructions.

Please note: at present, you can only receive foreign currency into your Global Money Account from an HSBC UK account held in your own name.
