By supporting financial inclusion and building financial capability and resilience, our partners can make a real impact on people's long-term financial health. Here are some of our UK charitable social partnerships.
In April 2023 HSBC UK and housing and homelessness charity Shelter announced a new multi-year partnership to support the financial health of people and communities during the cost-of-living crisis and help break the vicious circle of homelessness.
The partnership builds on the work of HSBC UK’s ‘No Fixed Address’ service, which has helped over 5,000 people without a fixed address to open a bank account, since 2019, and to rebuild their lives after experiencing homelessness. Money Heroes is a free Financial Education programme from Young Enterprise, designed for teachers, parents and anyone supporting young people at a learning age of 3 to 11. Through our partnership with Young Enterprise, Money Heroes give children the tools they need to develop their financial capability. Research shows that, on average, children develop their financial habits by the age of seven.
Since its launch in 2020, Money Heroes has engaged over 680,000 young people, over 4,100 schools/organisations, over 5,400 educators and 15,700 parents. The programme offers:
We've supported the Scouts to develop the first Money Skills Activity Badge for Beaver and Cub groups. The badge focusses on building financial capability skills. It also helps children to understand how their financial choices affect others and supports those who struggle with numeracy.
Over 150,000 children aged 6 to 10 years have already been awarded the badge. The activities are available free to all on the Scouts supporters' hub.
You can find out more and learn how to get involved at home.
Since our partnership with the Prince’s Trust began in 2012, we've helped over 56,000 young people re-engage with education, learn new skills and secure employment. We're working together to develop learning resources for The Trust’s Education and Employability programmes to build financial capability among young people who face disadvantages.
