Support for Ukraine

We're ready to help refugees

Our colleagues are ready to help Ukrainian refugees in the UK apply for a current account with HSBC UK.

You may find it easier to apply in a branch, where our colleagues will work with you to review the ID documents available and provide further guidance if needed. You can use our branch finder tool to locate the nearest branch to you.

You can also apply online. Depending on the documents available, we may ask you to visit a branch in order to complete your application.

How to donate

We’re helping charities to support those affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. If you'd like to help, we'd encourage you to donate to a registered charity.

Visit the British Red Cross or UNICEF appeals to find out how you can donate.

Homes for Ukraine scheme

If you have a mortgage with HSBC and you'd like to host a Ukrainian refugee through the Homes for Ukraine scheme, you'll need to let us know.

What's the Homes for Ukraine scheme?

The UK government has confirmed a new Homes for Ukraine scheme that will allow individuals and organisations to offer accommodation in the UK to Ukrainians and their immediate family.

We fully support this scheme and want to help make it as simple as possible for you to take part if you have a mortgage with us.

What to consider before hosting

It's important to think carefully before welcoming a family, as this could mean:

  • additional costs to you, such as energy and water bills
  • a change to your circumstances that may impact your ability to keep up your mortgage repayments, such as less monthly income
  • if you can't keep up with your mortgage repayments, your borrowing might become more expensive.

If you're experiencing financial difficulty or think that you may be in the coming months, we can work with you to help develop a plan. Find out more about our financial support.

We strongly recommend that you put an agreement in place with your guests to set expectations for when they’re living in your property, and to cover what would happen if you wanted to bring the arrangement to an end. Check your government website for more information and examples of the types of agreements you could use.

Leave your details if you'd like to host a refugee

If you have a mortgage with us for either your home or a vacant property, and you've been confirmed as a sponsor for the Homes for Ukraine scheme, leave your details to let us know.

If you have a joint mortgage, only one person needs to leave their details.

Can't complete the form or need some help? Get in touch with us on 0800 169 6333.

What happens next?

Thanks for letting us know that you have a mortgage with us and you've been confirmed as a sponsor to host a Ukrainian refugee.

Once you've submitted the form with your details, you don't need to do anything else. You won’t receive confirmation from us and we’ll only contact you if we're unable to match your details.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
